Silent Reading

I think the school gets the pupils to read every morning beacause the school will be noisy during assembly and after recess if the pupils talk instead of read and the school wants every pupil to have a habit of reading frequently. I don't like reading during assembly as the hall or parade square will be quite noisy to read in. I like reading because it is fun and interesting. I like to read ghost stories , fairy tales, books about homeless people or diseases. I think reading helps me improve in my vocabulary and grammar when doing composition. I think the school library can buy more new books to encourage the students to read. The book that I would recommend all of you to read is 'True Singapore Ghost Stories". The author of the book is Russell Lee. I like reading ghost stories because I would get a little frightened at night and I would sleep earlier.

Outside School Activities

The activities I am involved from Monday to Sunday is tuition and piano. I spend 5 days on these activities. My piano lesson lasts for about 45 minutes. My English, Maths and Science tuition lasts for 1 hour each and my Chinese tuition lasts for 2 hours. I am involved in these tuition to help improve my studies. I think having tuition is useful for me as it helps me improve my studies and stop me from playing too much computer games or watch too much television. I think learning piano is not useful to me and I learn piano because my mother wants me to. I don't think it affects my studies at all as tuition help me improve my studies. I don't feel stressed with these activities as I have enough time to rest. But sometimes I feel a little tired before I go for tuition. I think pupils should be involved in outside school activities as they will study more and play less computer and watch less TV.

Passion for Learning

I understand passion for learning is being interested in learning something new and putting all your effort into something and not giving up. I think it is necessary for people to have a passion for learning because you will be interested to learn new things when you have a passion for learning. I think my mother has a passion for learning. My mother revises her work almost everyday till 12a.m. or sometimes later and she goes to Ngee Ann Polytechnic to teach her students statistics three times a week and she goes to a university school to learn counseling and psychology as she will be a psychiatrist in 2 or 3 years. I am not sure whether I have a passion for learning as sometimes I am interested in learning more new things and sometimes I am not interested in learning new things. I can learn more things and go for more new interesting activities to develop my passion for learning.

Target setting

The purpose of target setting is to help you realise what you want to achieve. I think this is useful as when I set my target, I will think about how I want to achieve my targets. I set the targets that I should be able to achieve. I am studying 2 subjects a day for 1hour 30minutes and revising my weaker subjects so that my weaker subjects will not pull me down. My father would go through my Chinese work with me about 3 times a night and sometimes my mother teaches me to do my school homework or tuition homework. I will revise my schoolwork daily and do more assessments. I think the school can organise more learning activities for us.
